1ST NATIONAL MUD CRAB CONGRESS: Nov. 16-18, Iloilo City


The First National Mud Crab Congress will be held on November 16-18, 2015 at the Diversion Hotel 21, Iloilo City under the auspices of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) Aquaculture Department and the University of the Philippines Visayas with funding from the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development of DOST.
Theme of the Congress is “Philippines in the Forefront of Mud Crab Industry Development.” The Congress seeks to bring together scientists, industry practitioners/stakeholders and the academe from various parts of the country to discuss the present state of the mud crab industry and share the latest developments on its culture, according to Dr. Emilia Quinitio, Congress chair.
Dr. Quinitio added that insights on relevant issues and problem areas for further research on mud crab aquaculture and fisheries management will also be discussed during the workshop.
