THE ongoing annual garden show (January 26 to Feb. 6) of the Philippine Horticultural Society at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon, could be considered a big success. The plants on exhibit are exceptionally outstanding. So are the plants in the commercial booths.

One of the first prize winners exhibited by Lardy Abundo is Alocasia Sarian which was named after this blogger by a member of the International Aroid Society who visited our nursery many years back. This is a native of the Philippines and is an indigenous species contrary to a claim by a tissue-culture company in the US that it may be a hybrid.
