ONE of the plants that attracted us during our visit to Hortikultura 2016 is the striking color of the Caladium exhibited by the Los Baños group. The very bold solid red portions of the leaves contrast strongly with the white portions. Most caladiums are very colorful but their colors are not as well defined as the one in the exhibit.
By the way, Caladiums are often referred to as the plants that “now you see, now you don’t”. That’s because during the dry months they dry up only to sprout again when the rains come. But if you want your Caladiums to stay longer, you should fertilize them with slow-release fertilizer and water them regularly.
