ADVISORY: Zac B. Sarian To Indonesia

This blogger, Zac B. Sarian, might not be able to answer phone calls starting November 11 to 14, 2013 because we will be busy attending a workshop on biotechnology in Bogor, Indonesia.

The workshop aims to keep media practitioners abreast of trends and advances in biotechnology and safety, and current and potential contributions to food security and sustainable agriculture.

Among others, Dr. Randy Hautea will discuss Biotechnology Status, Impact and Future Prospects for Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture. Dr. Hautea is the global coordinator of International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA).

Another discussant is Dr. Frank Shotkoski who will talk on Current Developments and Challenges on Biotechnology and Biosafety: Perspective from the Public Sector. He is director of the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project II.

A lady farmer from the Philippines, Ms. Rosalie Ellasus, will present her experiences in planting biotech crops, particularly corn. She is from San Jacinto, Pangasinan.

Adig Suwandi, MSc., will talk on the Status and Opportunities of GM sugarcane Development in Indonesia.
