A forum on Success Secrets in Agriculture will be held on May 12, 2018 at the SM City Iloilo Cyberzone starting at 10 a.m. This is a joint project of the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Training Institute (ATI)and Agriculture Magazine of the Manila Bulletin which is observing its 20th anniversary.

Agriculture Magazine which is edited by your blogger, Zac B. Sarian, is the most widely circulated agri magazine in the Philippines. It is available via subscription as well as in bookstores and Bulletin outlets nationwide.
At 2 o’clock, your blogger will talk on Bright Ideas of Successful Agri-People which he has gathered through his long years of covering Agriculture. Of course, easily one of the most outstanding fellows in agribusiness is Arsenio “Toto” Barcelona who founded Harbest Agribusiness 21 years ago. He first introduced Known-You Hybrid seeds of high-value crops. In no time, he added farming inputs that naturally go with seeds. These include plastic mulch, seedling trays, greenhouses, small farm tractors, shredders, irrigation systems, effective microorganisms, and others.
Barcelona also started conducting training on how to grow improved vegetables and other high-value crops like hybrid papaya, sweet corn, watermelon, honeydew and others.
One most significant project Barcelona undertook is his collaboration with SM Foundation in what is called Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers Training” program which has so far trained 17,000 participants. Of course, we will also delve on the many bright ideas of other successful agri-people in different fields of farming.
Other speakers will talk on other topics. Eden Panisales, research staff of DA regon 6 will discuss “Making Orgnic Concoctions” while Honorio Cervantes will tackle “Square Foot Gardening.” Eden Panisales will also discuss Mushroom Production at 1 p.m.
Anelyn Hapitan and Cyson Altis will discuss goat production.

At 2 pm. Anelyn A. Hapitan and CysonAltis will talk on Goat production while Rowena C. Bienes of Allied Botanical will talk on Urban Gardening with vegetables and flowering plants.
