This is the story of a stunted sugarcane ratoon crop of Dr. Richard Torno, an outstanding veterinarian farmer from Floridablanca, Pampanga.
His sugarcane crop that was cut in December 2014 was ratooned but the ratoon was stunted because of the 7-month drought that followed. The arrival of rains starting the second week of July 2015 did little to correct the pitiful 5-foot height of the 7-month old ratoon.
However, the plants showed rapid recovery in both height and health within only 30 days after a foliar application of 1) Power Grower Combo and 2) Vitamin B1 with trace elements on August 6, 2015.
Dr. Torno says that he is convinced that there is hope for a good sugar harvest in spite of a 7-month drought. The inventor of the two products, Alfonso G. Puyat has assured Dr. Torno that Philippine sugar planters can survive the challenges brought about by the ASEAN Economic Integration. The pictures taken on August 6 and then on September 6, 2015 are convincing enough.
Photo above shows Dr. Torno posing with his sugarcane ratoon fully recovered from the stunting effect of a 7-month drought.
