BARBADOS CHERRY also called Acerola is a minor fruit that can be an additional exotic fruit in your farm or garden. It is a small tree that produces a lot of cherries if given enough space, fertilizer and judicious pruning.
The fruits are bright red when fully ripe. They are sweetish-sour and are said to be loaded with vitamin C. The fruitscan be eaten off hand or used as decor in salads.
One tree is being maintained at the Sarian Farm in Teresa, Rizal. Although the seeds will grow, Barbados Cherry is easiest to multiply by marcotting. Marcots will bear fruit in less than one year.
