Bayer Crop Science has invested about US$1.6 million in high capacity hybrid rice seed conditioning line that will be inaugurated on January 26, 2018 at the Bayer House at the Canlubang Industrial Estate in Calamba City, Laguna.
The world-class equipment from Cimbria (Denmark) will allow Bayer to provide higher quality locally produced hybrid rice seeds for the Philippine market. Bayer currently contributes about 30% of the total hybrid seed supply in the Philippines. With the new equipment, Bayer expects to augment production by 30% in the succeeding years, and effectively support the Department of Agriculture’s 1 million-hectare hybrid target by 2020.
Agriculture Sec. Manny Piñol has been invited to be keynote speaker, pending confirmation. Bayer’s Country Commercial Lead, Liinas Lao, and Amit Trikha, head of Seeds for Bayer Crop Science, will also be in attendance. Recher E. Ondap, head of Seeds, Bayer Crop Science PH, will introduce the keynote speaker.
Before the program proper, there will be a Bayer Seeds Plant tour.
