AMONG the beautiful ornamental plants exhibited at the HortiKultura Extravaganza are a couple of variegated mutant of the all-green Rainforest foliage anthurium.

Yuyung LaO, a well known collector of rare plants and a veteran landscaper, exhibited the two outstanding plants. The two are the product of judicious selection and reselection. It happened that the seeds of his all-green Rainforest that he germinated produced a variegated seedling. He multiplied the variegated plant by top cutting, producing variegated as well as all-green plants. He selected the ones with clear and consistent variegation and the two that he exhibited are among his best.

HortiKultura Extravaganza is garden show that opened on January 23 and will run through February 2, 2015. It is a joint project of the Philippine Horticultural Society headed by Dorie S. Bernabe and the Quezon City government.
