BLUE TRAP: It Attracts Thrips & Mites

While most insects are attracted by the yellow color, hence the yellow trap brushed over with sticky oil, blue is another color that attracts two particular pests – the tiny thrips (an insect) and mites (a non-insect but just as destructive to crops like the insects).
At the experimental farm of Allied Botanical Corporation in Tayug, Pangasinan, they have showcased how to install the blue traps in the field. The blue trap is brushed with oil so the pests that are attracted get stuck and die.The two pests suck the juice of the plants. They scarify the surfaces of leaves, fruits and flowers. Affected orchid flowers become rejects in the flower market.

Very informative…. Thanks!
