Innovative Bonsai is the theme of the bonsai show that will be staged by the Bonsai and Suiseki Alliance of the Philippines, Inc. (BSAPI) at the newly opened Museum QCX at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. This will be on July 22-29, 2017.
BSAPI is actively promoting bonsai and suiseki arts in the country by encouraging enthusiasts that include growers, collectors and hobbyists alike, to further hone their knowledge and keep them abreast of new developments in the field.
The show will highlight bonsai exhibits and live demonstrations. Renowned bonsai masters from abroad and from the Philippines will conduct the workshops.
Filipino bonsai experts who will conduct workshop/demos include Dr. Erwin Fabros, founding president of the Rizal Bonsai & Suiseki Institute who will talk on Filipino perspective on Suiseki; Nolan Sison of Marikina who will talk about basic bonsai from planting to wiring, selecting branches and initial styling.
Nabe Millares and Michael Morden of Pangasinan will discuss styling of Bantigue or Pemphis acidula; Marcos Contaco of Rizal will discuss his studies on Casuarina as bonsai material; and Pat Lopez of Pangasinan will discuss the presentation and styling of Innovative Bonsai.
Aside from the exhibits and demo/workshops, there will be a commercial section where enthusiasts can buy their favorite bonsai materials, tools and other supplies.
