The staff at the Hortinova Farm in Lipa City, birthplace of 35-year-old East-West Seed, are not only creative scientists who are developing outstanding vegetable varieties. They are also creative in making decorative arrangements using their own farm produce.
Look at this novel fruit and flower arrangement above consisting of white ears of Sweet Pearl waxy sweet corn, marigold, ampalaya fruits, hot pepper, basil leaves and cherry tomato. Isn’t this something you have not seen before? It was done by Renita U. Beronilla, a senior plant breeder whose latest hybrid is a butternut pumpkin named Pia after Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach.
The fruit and floral arrangement was made specially for a very important occasion on January 24, 2018. This was the turnover of management of East-West Seed by its founder, Simon N. Groot, to the next generation. During this event, Ard Groot, the founder’s lawyer son, became the Chairman and head of the Supervisory Board.
