DAVAO ORCHID QUEEN: To Talk On Waling-Waling, Feb. 3, 2018 At Hortikultura Garden Show

Sally Leuenberger and her first prize-winning Waling-Waling at the Kadayawan garden show.

Davao City’s most successful grower of Waling-Waling, the Queen of Philippine orchids, will talk on her favorite orchid at the Hortikultura 2018. This will be at 2 o’clock on February 3, 2018 at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. She is Salvacion Uy Leuenberger, a very successful large scale grower of Waling-Waling and other orchid genera.

Ms. Leuenberger is about the biggest producer of Waling-Waling today not only for local sales but also for export. Her Waling-Waling plants are perennial winners in garden shows, especially in Davao.

Sally will not only discuss how to grow Waling-Waling but also how to start an orchid business. Her advice to people aspiring to put up a profitable orchid business is to start small and expand as one gets the experience and skills in growing and marketing plants. They should have complete records of expenses and sales so they will know if they are making money or not.

Dorie S. Bernabe chairs the Philippine Horticultural Society, the organizer of Hortikultura 2018.
