DR. PABLITO P. PAMPLONA, the fruit expert from Kabacan, Cotabato is upbeat on Nam Roi, the white Vietnam pomelo that is often served at breakfast at hotels in Vietnam.

As per his experience in his farm in Cotabato, Nam Roi has been proven to be sweeter than the Magallanes variety which is the most widely grown variety by orchard owners in Mindanao. Another good trait is that the flesh readily separates from the skin.

Dr. Pamplona is upbeat because Nam Roi could be more adaptable to growing conditions in Mindanao. He said that the Magallanes pomelo is quite site specific and does not perform equally well in different parts of Mindanao.

Dr. Pamplona will be growing the white Vietnam pomelo in three farms in Mindanao.
