Dragon Fruit & Giant Aloe Vera

The Giant Aloe vera and Dragon Fruit will be the Mega Stars in the planned Quezon City Country Fair under the initiative of the Cactus and Succulent Society headed by Dorie S. Bernabe.
The purpose is to make the public more aware about the potential contribution of these two plants in providing food security and good health for the people.
The two plants could be grown profitably by farmers and processed into high-value products by entrepreneurs.

  1. Zac, as a kid, my grandma and I used to snack on a siniguelas-like fruit that had a hairy or furry seedpod. On a recent visit to Bangkok, I was served by an old Thai friend who is UP Agriculture alumni the same fruit. It brought back pleasant childhood memories. Eaten fresh or pickled they call it Makok in Thailand and Bangkok was named after it “The Land of Makok”. Makok-Spondias Mombin I was told grows all over SE Asia. Do you have it at Teresa Orchard?
