DULCE F1: New Sweet Melon From East-West Seed

A new sweet melon called Dulce F1 was launched by East-West Seed recently after it was proven to perform well in initial  plantings in Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga and some other places.

Dulce F1 is a vigorous plant and and is prolific. It is claimed to have intermediate resistance to downy mildew and geminivirus which are common diseases of melons. As such it is suitable for year-round planting. Planting can be programmed so that harvesting will coincide with the Christmas season.

Fruits which weigh 1 to 1.2 kilos can be harvested in 55 to 60 days after transplanting. The fruits are well accepted  by consumers because of their aroma and sweetness.
