ELF is the name of a newly introduced cherry tomato that promises to become a favorite of growers. This variety was showcased at the Cherry Tomato Festival on March 15, 2014 at the farm of Known-You Philippines (KYP) in Alcala, Pangasinan.

According to Joel Lacayanga, KYP agriculturist, Elf has been proven to be productive both in the dry and wet seasons. It can be grown inside a greenhouse as well as in the open field.


The red fruits are oval, weighing 15 to 20 grams each. It is sweet and juicy.


At the KYP farm of more than two hectares, a lot of hybrid high-value crops from Known-You Seed of Taiwan are being tested for their adaptability under Philippine conditions. Six promising cherry tomatoes were showcased during the festival.


These include Elf, Milton, Ruby, Sweet Ruby, Tropical Ruby and Season Red.


KYP is a joint venture of Known-You Seed of Taiwan and Harbest Agribusiness Corporation owned by Toto Barcelona.
