Makopa in fruit at Teresa Orchard & Nursery.
Three fruit trees and ornamental plants enthusiasts who quip that they are a Garden Club of Three visited the Teresa Orchard & Nursery in Teresa, Rizal, recently.
They are Fr. Rene Javellana, Fr. Miguel Lambino and Mrs. Yuhum Cunanan-Ong. Fr. Javellana teaches fine arts at Ateneo University while Fr. Lambino teaches theology at the same university. Mrs. Ong, on the other hand, is a fruit and ornamental plants enthusiast. All of them also love bonsai.
They were particularly fascinated by the plants they saw in Teresa. Just like the dwarf hermaphrodite Red Royale papaya, the Indian malunggay with long fruits, the rambutan with ripening fruits, the Sweet Kamias, the Dwarf Ilang-Ilang, the Honduras banana with fruit, fruiting durian and the fruitful mini makopa. Fr. Javellana has already a fruiting makopa and says the fruits are excellent for use in fruit salad.
