WHAT MAKES one happy soon after waking up in the morning? HAPPINESS is having a long good night’s sleep after yesterday’s really hectic exercise going down and up the organic farm of Sec. Francis N. Pangilinan in Alfonso, Cavite. We will post some of the pictures soon.
HAPPINESS is going around our little farm this morning and witnessing the heavy fruiting of our Sweet Kamias…the developing fruits of our mangosteen,…the profuse flowering of our pomelos in containers… the new flowers of our green makopa, and the flowering of our Bhagwa pomegranate from India. Also, it is great to see the profuse blooms of our Queen of Flowering trees, and the robust growth of seedlings of a flowering plant from a butterfly garden in Taiwan. This one produces big clusters of brilliant little berries.
Just like what Sec. Kiko Panagilanan seemed to say while going around his farm yesterday, it is exhilarating to be farming. His only lament is that he can not be in his farm more often because of his new assignment in government. That’s being head of the Office of the President for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization or simply OPFSAM.

You can go to the Sarian Farm in Teresa, Rizal for seedlings of Sweet Kamias. If given proper care, the seedlings will bear fruit in two years. The fruits are good for salad. They can also be eaten fresh right after picking.
