Members of the Philippine Horticultural Society will go on a field tour of the facilities of East-West Seed Company in San Rafael, Bulacan on Saturday, March 25, 2017. The group will be headed by Dorie S. Bernabe, chairman of the garden club. The members are particularly interested in the new flowering ornamentals that the seed company has introduced and now distributing the seeds and plants nationwide. The latest to be introduced is a very floriferous Big Begonia (that’s the varietal name). It can be used as ground cover for certain locations in the garden or grown as potted plant for personal use or for sale. Other varieties include zinnia, petunia marigold, and several others. Of course, the club members are also interested in the many vegetable hybrids and other high-value crops that the company has developed and which are big money-
makers for the farmers.
The Horti group will also visit Mega Orchids, also in San Rafael. The orchid farm is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Al Isidro.
