You are a dragon fruit farmer. Yes? Yes. You want to produce bigger fruits, right? You will get more Class A fruits if you produce bigger fruits and you will get a higher price for your harvest.

How then do you make the fruits bigger? One way is to spray Power Grower Combo and Heavy Weight Tandem formulated by Alfonso G. Puyat of Philippine Orchard Corp. A dragon fruit farmer from Santa, Ilocos Sur has been using the two for at least two years now and he says the two work wonders. Three-year-old plants can yield 5 kilos of fruits in one season. Class A fruits fetch P75 a kilo ex-farm while Second Class gets only P60 per kilo.

Power Grower Combo is a plant growth accelerator. When sprayed on the plant, it will make the plant grow fast and strong. When PGC is sprayed on the plant, the plant will feel very hungry so it will take up nutrients from the soil fast, resulting in fast growth and development.

On the other hand, Heavy Weight Tandem  (HWT) is sprayed on the plant when it is beginning to bear fruit. The formulation facilitates the uptake of potassium and trace elements, bringing them to the developing fruits. This will result in more uniform fruits that are sweeter and juicier.

VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND: Upon application of chemical fertilizer in the soil, the soil should have adequate moisture. Spray PGC soon after applying fertilizer in the soil. If it is not rainy, irrigate the plants thoroughly. Why? Because if the soil is dry, the plant will not be able to absorb the nutrients from the soil. Clear? Okay clear. You can spray PGC every two weeks after fertilizing with complete or some other formulations. The same is true with HWT. The soil should be thoroughly irrigated or watered so the plants can absorb the potassium-rich fertilizer. Spraying could be every two weeks. Of course, you can make your own experiment to find out which works best for you.
