IMPACT Philippines: To Help Smallholder Farmers In Buguias, Benguet

A new project aimed at improving the productivity of smallholder farmers in Buguias, Benguet, will be launched on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Agricultural Training Institute on Elliptical Road in Quezon City with Sen. Cynthia Villar as keynote speaker.

This is the IMPACT Philippines which stands for “Improving Productivity in Agriculture Through Climate-Smart Technology in the Philippines. It is an initiative of the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST).

ASSIST has recently partnered with Pessl Instruments GmbH (Pessl) for the project. The beneficiaries from Buguias will be provided with Pessl-manufactured METOS instruments to help them increase farming productivity and improve food security through Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA)

The keynote speaker during the launching, Sen. Villar, is the chairperson of he Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food. She is a strong advocate of improved farming practices and agritourism.
