The Philippine Center For Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) has developed a coconut water pasteurizer and chiller. It has set up one in Pili, Naga City in a bid to help the coconut farmers increase their income. Processed coconut water is a healthy drink and can be a money maker for the coconut farmers. The coconut water is usually thrown away when making copra. With the pasteurizer and chiller, coco water could now be turned into cash.
By the way, PhilMech will be showcasing its latest technologies in agricultural mechanization at the Agrilink trade show on October 15-17 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
