AANI will conduct its next Farm Tour on June 14, 2015. The first destination will be the Edna Sanchez Farm in Jalajala, Rizal where she has 8,000 hills of fruiting dragon fruits that are grown the organic way.
The farm is remarkable in that the dragon fruit are early-bearing. The first harvest was on April 16 which is much ahead of other dragon fruit farms in Luzon. Normally flowering starts in May and the first harvest is sometime in June.
The fruits are sold as fresh but a lot are also processed into wine and jam. Aside from dragon fruit, Edna also raises farm animals like cows, carabaos, horses, pigs, chickens, geese, goats, turkey and others.
The next stop in the afternoon will be the Sarian Farm in Teresa, Rizal. Participants will see a wide variety of exotic fruit trees, many of them grown in containers.
Those interested to join the farm tour should reserve with Jocelyn Mahipus at 0917-795-0916. They can also go direct to the AANI office at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.
