FOR LANAO DEL NORTE RURAL FARMERS: Season-Long Training On High-Value Crops
ON MARCH 3, 2017. SM Foundation brought its Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan Rural Farmers’ Training Program to Lanao del Norte as it conducted an orientation on livelihood, particularly in growing vegetables and other high-value crops. The event was attended by 188 participants comprising of farmers and staff of the Integrated Growth Program for Lanao del Norte and municipal agriculture offices from 10 municipalities of the province.

The orientation was held at the Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex in Brgy. Sagadanan in the capital town of Tubod. The launching was attended by Gob. Imelda Quibranza Dimaporo, Rep. Abdullah Dimaporo of the 2nd district, Arsenio ‘Toto’ Barcelona of Harbest Agribusiness and Cristina Angeles of Outreach SM Foundation.
The KSK Rural Farmers’ trainign program has also been introduced in Zamboanga and Sulu not only to provide farmers with the techniques on sustainable cultivation of their farm lots but also to provide them with a capacity-building program.
Launched in Bacolod City in 2007, the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers’ Training Program has inspired many small farmers to form cooperatives and become entrepreneurs.
