Leadership Succession At East-West Seed

EAST-WEST SEED will mark another milestone as its chairman and founder, Simon N. Groot, will hand over the chairmanship of the supervisory board to the next generation, through his son Ard Groot. The event will take place on January 24, 2018 at the Hortanova Farm Lipa City, Batangas, the birthplace of the East-West Seed Group.

Bert van der Feltz, president and CEO, will discuss the story of the family business and future ambitions in his opening speech. He will be followed by The Netherlands ambassador to the Philippines Marion Derckx who will delve on “Bridging the gap between East and West: a challenge for leaders.

World/Veg Director General Marco Woperels will talk on “Uniting vegetable research efforts towards partnership for a healthier world.” This will be followed by a talk on “Bringing science, technology and innovation together for farmer development” by Dr. Emil Q. Javier of the National Academy of Science and Technology.

Ahmad Yuniarto, member of the Board of Advisors of East-West Indonesia, will talk on “Modern leadership in a multi-cultural setting: conditions for growing talent and a healthy organization.” Jacqueline van Zwol of STAK will talk on “When family businesses are best: the essence and uniqueness of leadership in a family business context.”

Before the hand-over ceremony, Simon N. Groot, honorary chairman and founder, will give an inspirational message. After the hand-over Ard Groot will tackle: “Looking ahead: carrying on the leadership legacy, aligning family and business.
