The cover features Yuyung LaO who exhibited his rare variegated Rainforest foliage anthurium which readily got the attention of a business tycoon who is a certified plant collector. The businessman is reported to have paid an undisclosed big sum for the plant.
Big specimen plants that are rare and outstanding command a high price. They could be mutants like the variegated Rainforest or they could be rare indigenous species that are in perfect shape.
Even ordinary species, like hot chilli, for instance, can fetch a high price if they are cultured well, grown in a beautiful container, and are full of ripe fruits. One such plant was bought for a couple of thousand pesos at the recent HortiKultura garden show.
Of course, there are other interesting features in the March Agriculture Magazine. Like the new releases of vegetables and other high-value crops by Allied Botanical Corporation which held its annual Field Day on February 11 to 13 at its experimental farm in Tayug, Pangasinan.
Watch for the release of the March Agriculture Magazine. It is the most widely circulated agriculture magazine in the Philippines. It is distributed in major bookstores and the outlets of Manila Bulletin nationwide.
