This August Maripaz Godinez harvested several kilos of ripe Longkong lanzones from her six-year-old tree in her backyard.
The fruits are really sweet, latexless and most of them seedless. Instead of keeping her harvest to herself, however, she gave most of them to friends and relatives.
When we dropped by her place in Green Meadows, Quezon City, she had already shared her fruits with at least 20 recipients who are mostly senior citizens.
Aside from Longkong, she is very proud of her Abiu, an exotic fruit from Brazil which tastes somewhat like caimito.
