MMSU Extension And Research Personnel Visit Sarian Farm In Teresa, Rizal, May 16, 2015

A total of 48 Extension and Research Personnel of the Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, visited the Sarian Farm in Teresa, Rizal and other places of interest on May 16, 2015. The group was headed by Aris Reynold V. Cajigal, Director for Extension of the university.

In Teresa, they observed the growing of fruit trees in containers intended for the urban market. The fruit trees in containers include different varieties of imported makopa, pummelos and other citrus species, chico, duhat, balimbing and others. We explained that the fruit trees in containers are highly suitable for culturing in the urban areas where space is usually limited. The trees make excellent gift items for special people who will appreciate gifts that are different from those purchased from the department store.

The group also observed the ever-bearing Red Criollo cacao from Brazil, the sweet kamias, Super Avocado and other exotic fruits like durian, longkong lanzones, rambutan, longan, Abiu and many more. They also got seeds of the Japanese selection of saluyot which produces big tender leaves.
The delegation also attended the Agri-Kapihan at the Mango Festival on May 15 at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. After that, they proceeded to the Bonsai Show which was also held at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
