A two-day National Food and Nutrition Security Conference will be held on October 12-13, 2015 at the Crimson Hotel, Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
This is under the auspices of the Interdisciplinary Studies Center on Food Security based at UP Los Baños in partnership with the Bureau of Agricultural Research, the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The conference aims to set strategic directions and actions for the Philippine Food and Nutrition Security Agenda. It will be attended by various stakeholders and would include experts in agriculture and environment, marketing and trade from state universities and colleges, local government units and NGOs, including farmers, traders and consumers. It is expected to produce useful information about the current and pressing issues and gaps in food security situation in the country.
The ISCFS was launched in March 2014 aiming to be a national center of excellence in interdisciplinary research, teaching and training on national food and nutrition security and safety. Program chair is Dr. Domingo E. Angeles, former dean of the UP College of Agriculture and currently professor.
