NEPTUNE is the name of a high-yielding squash variety being distributed by Allied Botanical Corporation for commercial planting.

This variety which is highly tolerant to virus diseases produces fruits that are six to seven kilos each. The golden yellow flesh is sweet and glutinous. These are characteristics that consumers look for in a squash variety.

Mrs. Mimi Co, chairman of Allied Botanical, is shown holding a typical fruit of Neptune. This was during the field day on February 12, 2014 at the 23-hectare farm of the company in Tayug, Pangasinan.

The field day coincided with the 30th anniversary of the seed company. Over 7,000 visitors attended the field day, coming from various towns in Pangasinan and other provinces.

Many outstanding varieties of other vegetables, culinary herbs, flowering ornamentals, sorghum, sweet corn and waxy corn were showcased during the field day.
