Mrs. Fely S. Gupit, president of the Natural Stone Society of the Philippines, was the host of the monthly meeting of the Philippine Horticultural Society in her residence in Quezon City on October 26, 2013,

In the meeting Fernando Aurigue, PHSI member and scientist of the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, gave a video presentation of his travel to Indonesia where he visited the Bogor Botanic Garden and other horticultural landmarks.


Aurigue is also the author of a new book on Ti Plants. In photo, he is handing to Mrs. Gupit a copy of his book.


While Ti plants are very common in home gardens, planted in the ground as well as decorative pot plants, many may not be aware that they are called Ti plants. Ti plants which come in various sizes, from the very small to very big, are also popularly known as “Baston ni San Jose,” “Baston de San Jose,” and Cordyline. Their leaves have a wide variety of shapes and colors.ย
