Since we have featured Oberhasli in this blog and in our articles in Manila Bulletin, we have received a number of inquiries asking how they can buy one. Oberhasli is a promising dairy goat breed that was introduced in the country about three years ago through a government program called AGRIPBeS.
Well, we contacted Rene Almeda of Alaminos Goat Farm, one of the beneficiaries of the government program that brought the new breed to the country.
This is what Almeda said. He will be making available only male Oberhaslis at the Agrilink trade show which will be held on October 9-11 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. One buck costs P20,000 to P25,000, depending on size?
Why only male and not female Oberhaslis? Well, Rene said that most of the females are under study. They are recording their milk yield so that they can select the best performers for their breeding program. They believe Alaminos Goat Farm will already have assembled a considerable number of high-performing Oberhaslis by 2015.
