SKY LADY is a promising orange-fleshed honeydew melon under field trial at the experimental farm of Known-You Philippines in Rosales, Pangasinan and in farmers’ fields in the province.

The fruit has an interesting ageing process, says Julius Barcelona, special assistant to the vice-general manager of KYP. When newly harvested, the flesh is firm and crunchy. After storing it for 4 to 5 days, however, the flesh becomes tender,  soft, smooth and very sweet.

This variety matures in 75 days after planting. The fruit weighs an average of 1.5 kilos. Honeydew melon is a high-priced fruit which could be profitable for farmers to produce.
