CRISANTO ALIBUYOG, assistant vice president for product development and technical support of Allied Botanical Corp., poses with a promising variety of sorghum (Code name 28133).

This was during the field day at the company’s experimental farm in Tayug, Pangasinan on Feb. 12, 2014.

This hybrid sorghum produces high grain yield as well as biomass or stalks that are good for feeding cattle and other farm animals.

Allied Botanical is the biggest distributor of sorghum seeds in the Philippines. Sorghum is a grain crop that can tolerate drought conditions better than corn and other crops. The grains are used in commercial animal feeds. Gamefowl raisers also love to feed the grains to their feathered gladiators.
