PUREBRED RABBITS: Donated To Association Of Rabbit Meat Producers

A total of 44 purebred New Zealand White and Chinchilla rabbits were donated to the Association of Rabbit Meat Producers, Inc. during the three-day Rabbit Festival at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City on May 21-22, 2016. The donation was handed to ARaMP president Art Veneracion by Dr. Rene C. Santiago who heads the National Swine and Poultry Research and Development Center in Tiaong, Quezon.

The donated rabbits will be used by the ARaMP members to upgrade their stocks and to produce purebred breeders that will eventually produce bigger animals for meat production.
There is an increasing interest in rabbit raising not only for meat but also for the production of pets and laboratory animals. Rabbits are also stocked in leisure or agritourism farms as an attraction to visitors, especially the young kids.

At the Rabbit Festival, different rabbit recipes were served. The one that got the most attention was the paella rabbit.
