A new hybrid sweet corn, Purple Sweet, was showcased by East-West Seed Company during the Agrilink 2013, October 10-12 at the World Trade Center Manila.

This has big ears and cream and purple kernels. The purple color is considered a health bonus because it contains anthocyanin that is claimed to be good for the health.

Purple Sweet was developed by East-West plant breeders in Thailand and is now a favorite variety in that country. It has also been introduced in Sri Lanka, and now it is being promoted in the Philippines.
