Ronald Costales of Costales Nature Farms is receiving awards one after the other. He received last December 12 the Villar SIPAG Award as one of the 10 Most Outstanding Community Enterprises. Of the 10 awardees, he is the only single individual who was bestowed the honor. The other awardees are cooperatives. Also given awards were 10 Most Promising Community Enterprises. All the awardees in the second category are also cooperatives.
The awards carry a cash prize of P250,000 for the Most Outstanding category while the Most Promising Community Enterprises received P150,000 each. The cash prizes for the 20 awardees amounted to P4 million which came from the Villar family’s dividends from the family-owned Vista Land.
The Villar SIPAG Awards intends to recognize community enterprises as models of good practices in poverty reduction. It honors community enterprises that have been helping their communities in minimizing poverty.
Former Sennate President Manny Villar is the founding chairman of the Villar SIPAG Awards. SIPAG stands for Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance.
