Sen. Cynthia Villar has come up with a directory of farm schools, tourist farms and learning sites all over the country through the family’s Villar SIPAG Foundation.

The lady senator, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, said the publication of the directory is a realization of one of her promises to promote family farming.

She said that after pursuing the enactment of the Farm Tourism Development Act, she promised to put together a directory that will put together farm tourism destinations all over the country.

She is happy to note that the benefits of the Farm Tourism Development Law are now enjoyed by an increasing number of farmers, farm owners and farming communities. Farm tourism has become a “sunshine industry” and many farm owners have converted their farms into tourist destinations.

She urges other farm owners to follow suit as doing so will allow them to significantly increase their income potentials. She is also batting for the establishment of more farm schools so that improved farming technologies could be disseminated faster to the farmers who need them most.

The Villar SIPAG Foundation has put up two farm schools – one in Las Piñas-Bacoor area and another in San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan.
