ERNESTO ABALOS who is featured on the cover of the Feb. 2014 Agriculture Magazine will launch his newly developed All-White Paraoakan chicken at the Horticulture 2014.
Horti 2014 is the big horticultural show that will be held from January 24 to February 3 at the Tropical Garden at the Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City. It is under the auspices of the Philippine Horticultural Society headed by Dorie S. Bernabe.
The All-White Paraoakan has the same physical traits of the traditional Paraoakan with pure black or black with reddish feathers. It has long legs, long neck, big head and bigger body than the other native strains.
One special trait of the All-White Paraoakan, according to Abalos, is that it is easier to domesticate. It is not flighty like the ordinary Paraoakan.
By the way, Paraoakan is the native chicken from Palawan.
The February issue of Agriculture Magazine will come out a few days from now. It contains a lot of interesting information on farming. It is the most widely circulated magazine of its kind in the Philippines. It is available in bookstores and the outlets of Manila Bulletin nationwide.
