WORLD TRADE CENTER: Getting Too Small For Agrilink Trade Show

WORLD TRADE CENTER: Getting Too Small For Agrilink Trade ShowANTONIO V. ROCES has a big problem. The World Trade Center which has been the venue of Agrilink Trade Show in the last 23 years is getting too small for the annual trade expo. Mr. Roces is the president of the Foundation for Resource Linkage and Development (FRLD) which stages Agrilink every October. This year, it is October 15-17.

We met Tony at the DA-BAR Technology Forum and Products Exhibition on August 8 at the SM Megamall and we congratulated him for the great success of Agrilink which started inauspiciously as Piglink in Davao City some 24 years ago.

He said that World Trade Center has about 1.2 hectares of roofed area and a considerable area of outdoor space that is also used for exhibits. For lack of space, he had to send a group of exhibitors to the adjacent Philippine Trade Training Center.

Agrilink is not only for the big players in Agriculture. A lot of small entrepreneurs also find the trade show as a big market for their products. Members of AANI, for instance, are small individual growers of vegetables, fruit trees, herbs and many others. They find Agrilink as major yearly market for their produce. Many of them really prepare their plants for the annual trade fair.
