ZENY ARENAS WITH SEEDLESS BALIMBING

ย ZENY ARENAS, native of Calasiao, Pangasinan but now residing in Los Angeles, California, revisited the Sarian Farm (used to be Teresa Orchard & Nursery) in Teresa, Rizal.

This time she is very much interested in planting the Red Criollo cacao from Brazil, the variety that has been fruiting non-stop at the Sarian farm since it was 18 months old. Now the tree is about six years old. She will have her relatives plant the seedlings in her farm in Pangasinan so that when she retires a few years from now, she could enjoy the chocolate from her trees.

She was particularly fascinated by the big fruit of the Golden Queen mango and the big fruit of the seedless star fruit or balimbing. The last time she was at the Teresa Farm, she was interested in the latexless jackfruit from Malaysia.

  1. Hope Mr. Zac B. Sarian write more about cacao planting. What type of soil, its pH quality if any, fertilizers necessary for growth. I am very interested in planting cacao in our farms in Tarlac and Pangasinan. I am in mid fifty. How long will it takes for cacao to bear fruits, from planting its seeds to harvesting. Our farms has several fruit bearing trees, mangoes, chicos, tamarind, and on the ground watermelons. Has more space to accommodate cacao.Thank you po ng marami. Saka pahabol, magkano po ang seedlings.
